Will plastic leach from the pod?

Keurig® pods are BPA-free and constructed using only FDA approved food grade materials. In addition, the temperature of the water dispensed in Keurig® brewers is well below the melting and softening points of the pod materials. Therefore, no plastic leaches from the pod into your beverage. We regularly review the components used in our products to ensure that they are safe and meet or exceed applicable FDA standards.

Recyclable K-Cup® Pods

As a company, we are committed to making all K-Cup® pods recyclable by 2020.  We have taken the first major step in our recyclability journey by offering two of our most popular coffee varieties in a recyclable format and will continue to roll out additional varieties each year.

The next milestone in our journey is to broaden the availability of recyclable K-Cup® pods and specifically convert 100% of all K-Cup® pods in Canada to the recyclable polypropylene #5 plastic format by the end of 2018, ahead of our overall 2020 company goal.

What size cup or mug should I use for a Rivo® pod?

The espresso-based beverages in the Rivo® System Welcome Book recommend a 12 oz. mug whether one is making a cappuccino or a latte. This larger mug size is suggested, so that there is minimal risk of having made too much froth for a particular mug size. As users become acclimated to their Rivo® System, they will start customizing their unique, balanced blend of espresso and milk and, as a result, have a clearer idea of the appropriately sized mug when making their favorite beverage

What is the hole in my coffee bag?

The hole in the coffee bag is a degassing valve that is sealed into the packaging material to help preserve coffee freshness. Freshly roasted coffee emits carbon dioxide (CO2) for up to 24 hours. We package our coffee immediately after roasting. To allow the degassing process to continue, we equip our bags with the degassing valve to allow C02 to exit the package while preventing oxygen and other gases from entering.
